Phil Jackson is one of the candidates in line to coach the Brooklyn Nets, reports SportsCity.com. Interim coach P.J. Carlesimo was fired after the Nets failed to surpass the first round of the 2012-2013 NBA Playoffs.
Well, this is a bummer. If this is true, Jim Buss — the owner of the Lakers — should’ve signed Phil Jackson when he had the chance. Details inside:
Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King fired Interim Coach P.J. Carlesimo immediately after the Nets fell to the Chicago Bulls in Round One by a score of 3 wins to 4 losses.
When the season started off in November 2012, the Nets had been struggling with an overall record of 5-11. Head coach Avery Johnson was fired in December 2012, immediately prompting Carlesimo to step in as an interim head coach.
The Brooklyn Nets completed the 2012-2013 Regular season with an impressive 49-33 record, but come playoff season, however, Carlesimo failed to take his team past Round One.
Now that the Nets organization has a vacancy, GM Billy King will be speaking to Jeff Van Gundy and Phil Jackson.
I hope this is just a rumor because Phil Jackson truly belongs with the Los Angeles Lakers’ organization.
