Here is Part 2 of my post: “Can the Los Angeles Lakers make the Playoffs?”:
The Los Angeles Lakers are peaking at just the right time of the season, winning 5 out of their last 6 games. If they keep this momentum going, they will sneak right into the playoffs. Although they are currently in tenth place in the Western Conference, I strongly believe that they can move up a couple seeds by the end of the 2012-2013 Regular Season. It took the Lakers more than half of this season to develop some chemistry, but they’ve now got it. I am very pleased with the progress this team has made as of late.
In Part 1 of my post, I was extremely frustrated with this squad. I didn’t understand how a team consisting of four All-Stars in Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, and Steve Nash could go 0-8 in the pre-season, and then proceed to average a < 50% winning percentage over the first half of the regular season. It just didn’t compute with me… but, then I started realizing that most of the blame lies on Owner Jim Buss’ shoulders. He severely screwed up in NOT hiring Phil Jackson. It just seemed like he was attempting to remove all of Phil’s legacy, and everything that Phil took part in. No disrespect to Coach D’Antoni, but I just don’t feel like his system works well with this Lakers squad. I miss Phil’s Triangle system… Sigh.
I’m not exactly sure how the Lakers developed this much-needed sense of urgency, but they’ve got it. They’ve finally got it! I’m glad they’ve found a sense of urgency after all. I was very worried that this team wouldn’t gel at all this 2012-2013 season, but they proved me wrong. They’re currently 22-26 on the season, and I truly believe they will improve that record in no time. No doubts about it.Go Lakers! Purple and Gold forever.
A Much Happier Lakers Fan,
UPDATE: Here’s Part 3.
