I launched this blog to the public on January 21, 2013, and today we celebrate our 3 month-a-versary! It’s been a successful third month for AvidAmy.com.
I made an effort to blog everyday, and my hard work has definitely paid off:
First of all, I would like to thank all returning AND new readers. My initial goal for the third month was to hit 300 page views per day; however, you guys have helped me exceed that goal. On the 17th of April, I hit 675 page views for the day.
Also, I made a bigger push to write 3-6 times a day, instead of once every two or three days. One of the most important things I’ve learned from this experience is that I need to publish new entries every day, so that the Google Search Engines (i.e. bots, spiders) can find my blog.
I also realized that a successful blog stems from excellent internet marketing and a steady amount of traffic. During the first couple months, I made the crucial error of only focusing on the design of the blog. Although web design is important, nobody will even notice my new web design if I don’t learn the necessary marketing skills.
As I’m typing this entry, it’s 10:55 AM in Los Angeles, CA. I currently have 3,000 unique visitors and 5,520 page views. I’m hoping to surpass 7,000 page views by the 30th of April. My Alexa ranking has also climbed from mid-25 million to mid-10 million. In addition, I’ve finally jumped over the Adsense hurdle… During the first two months, I was making $0. Everyday that I had logged in, I would only see a big fat Zero. Now, I see $1-3 per day. It’s not much, but it is a work in progress.
I have also installed a few plugins on WordPress to assist me along the way. “Post Views Stats” and “Statpress Visitors” have helped me track my page view count.
I’m very determined to push this blog to its fullest potential; however, I’ve realized that nothing happens overnight. And finally, the best part about this particular blog is that it doesn’t feel like work to me.
